Fernando is an anarchist and student of the College of Sciences and Humanities on the Vallejo campus who also works in a furniture factory. He was arrested on December 13, 2013 accused of burning a Christmas tree owned by the Coca-Cola company in Mexico City during the first demonstration against the 67% in fares on the Sistema de Transporte Colectivo Metro (Metro Public Transport System). He is charged with attacking public peace and criminal association. The only evidence against him was a heavily edited video, which fails to identify him directly.  After a year in custody, he was sentenced to 5 years 9 months in prison.

Life in Prison

Along with other prisoners he started a project to combat prison, including a newspaper, as well as hunger strikes to denounce torture.

He was released in 2018 after serving 75% of his sentence.
