Sven van Hasselt

Extradited from the Netherlands to the UK in February 2017 for charges that could carry 14 years in prison, as part of the Blackmail 3 case with Natasha and Debbie Vincent. In July 2012 Sven and Natasha were raided and arrested in Amsterdam under a European arrest warrant. They were accused of ‘conspiracy to blackmail’ in relation to Huntingdon Life Sciences (rebranded as Envigo). HLS is Europe’s largest animal testing laboratory and is the most notorious and protested lab in history.

Nicole Kissane

Joseph Buddenberg

Ladislav Kuc

Ladislav is an animal rights activist accused of illegal possession of arms, manufacturing of explosives, and terrorism for bombing in front of a McDonald’s on December 28, 2011 in which there were no injuries. He was arrested on January 1, 2012.  Reports indicate he was traced after almost a year when the police tracked down the producer of a timer found at the crime scene and also mail communications between Ladislav and the manufacturer. During a house search police found materials related to ALF and components for another bomb.

Debbie Vincent

On May 17th 2014, Debbie was sentenced to 6 years in prison for campaigning against Huntingdon Life Sciences, Europe’s largest animal testing laboratory which kills about 500 animals every day. She was also given an Anti Social Behaviour Order which means she can be arrested if she protests against or contacts Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) or its business partners for a further five years after her release from prison.

Karl Häggroth

Karl is vegan straight edge and an anti-racist activist arrested in June of 2014 for animal rights actions directed against fur farming. He was sentenced to 2.5 years. Ebba Olausson and Richard Klilnsmeister were imprisoned for related charges, and were released on June 15 and June 17, 2015, respectively.

Operation Backfire

In 2004, several separate FBI investigations into the animal rights and environmental movements were combined into Major Case #220, also called Operation Backfire. On December 7, 2005, the FBI’s “Operation Backfire” revealed its public face. That day, seven people living in four different states— Chelsea Gerlach, Darren Thurston, William Rodgers, Kendall Tankersley (Sarah Kendall Harvey), Kevin Tubbs, Daniel McGowan, and Stanislas Meyerhoff—were arrested in connection with a variety of sabotage actions.
